What to Expect

Here's what you can expect at a a typical week at Canadian Adventure. Your group will meet us at a gas station located along Highway 17 north, 70 miles north of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. We will then drive together for about 11 miles into the wilderness of Canada to a boat landing. At the boat landing we will load you and your gear onto pontoon boats and head to our wilderness lodge about ½ mile away. At the lodge, your group will move into their rooms and have a meal together in our dining room. After dinner your group will spend some time team-building on our low ropes course. Then it is time for a snack, perhaps a campfire, and then off to bed.

Day 2 begins your Adventure. First, we eat a hearty breakfast and then we are off to either Mt. Sinai, a 650 foot rock which we climb, (no ropes necessary), or a canoe and hike to an incredible hidden waterfall. Both trips take most of the day. For lunch we eat on the trail. In the evening, we relax and eat back at the lodge. We have a meeting room or outside fire ring for your group to debrief and hear from Gods’ Word, and perhaps sing some songs of praise. (We can provide a speaker and musician if you like.)

On Day 3, your group will pack up some gear (we provide the waterproof bags) and head upriver for 2 nights at our upriver cabins. We will send along food and a guide to make sure this Adventure is a success. Along the way upriver your group can hike and swim at an incredible waterfall called 10 Mile Falls. The 3 hour trip upriver is full of incredible views of God’s awesome creation. Some groups even see moose, bear, wolves, or deer along the way. At the cabin upriver your group will depend on each other to live in the wilderness. There is no electricity and no running water, just gas lanterns and fire for light. You will build community by working together on your daily chores including cooking and cleaning. Canoeing, swimming, beach walking, cliff jumping, and a trip to an incredible rapids called “The Golden Staircase” are all part of this Adventure. The cabins are comfortable and clean and have soft mattresses. In the evenings, the open outdoor fire is a great place to talk about our great God and worship Him there.

On Day 5 you will travel back to base camp for a great meal and hot showers and time to unwind at base camp. The morning of Day 6 is a time for your group to reflect on the past week. We call it “Solo” Time. We will help each individual in your group get alone with God for 2 – 3 hours along the lake or along a trail near our base camp. In the afternoon it is time for a hike up Mt. Sinai or a trip to Hidden Falls. Day 7 we will feed you breakfast and get you on your way back home.

An option that we offer is a one or two day Amazing Race. Your group splits up into teams and they race out in the wilderness for a finish line. It is a great team-building event!
